Gavin Newsom, Gordon Getty and John Conover shared a vision to add a complementary estate vineyard to the valley floor terroir of their Oakville estate at PlumpJack Estate Winery. In 2005, that dream came to fruition in the form of a 54-acre estate, elevated high above the fog line, on the dramatic slopes of Howell Mountain – CADE Estate Winery. Similar to PlumpJack, CADE takes its name from Shakespeare, who used the term to describe wine casks, or cades, shipped from Bordeaux to England during Elizabethan times.
Then in the fall of 2011, the PlumpJack Family was presented with another opportunity, to purchase an exceptional vineyard in the Stags Leap District from pioneering grape grower Dick Steltzner – this prime piece of land would be the future site of Odette Estate Winery. Odette Estate, like PlumpJack and CADE Estate Wineries, was given its name from Shakespeare and other historical works. Odette was a pivotal character penned by Shakespeare and Proust, and also in Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake – it is a name that represents femininity, strength and power.
In August of 2012, Danielle Cyrot joined CADE Estate Winery as the winemaker. Danielle’s childhood was spent summering in France where she was exposed to the winemaking history of her family from a young age. Her great-grandfather was the last in a long line of ancestors who owned the Cyrot vineyard in Burgundy’s prestigious Côte de Beaune. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Viticulture and Enology from UC-Davis, Danielle worked abroad at wineries in Alsace, France and South Australia. She learned to trust her palate and create world-class wines as an assistant winemaker at Stag’s Leap and then winemaker at St. Clement creating elegant, structured and significant wines that expressed her personality and what she likes in a glass of wine.
We are scheduling a Zoom with winemaker Danielle Cyrot and her selections to hear her speak about how she loves the ever-changing world of winemaking!
We will include REpour wine preservers, so you can save what you don’t enjoy that night for another day. The total cost of the pack and REpours is $155.
(Special pricing on these wines is for this event only! Case pricing will be honored on ANY case purchase – you can mix & match all three in any quantity!)
