December 2025 Grand Crew Wine Selections

As winter settles in, December’s wines bring depth, warmth, and a festive lift. This month showcases two expressive, terroir-driven reds from Washington’s Red Mountain AVA—bold, soulful, and perfect for hearty evenings—paired with a joyful, lightly sparkling rosé from the alpine slopes of eastern France. Rich, refreshing, and seasonally vibrant, these wines bring cheer to every December moment.

December’s Selections:

🍷 Hedges Family Estate | Red Mountain | Descendants Liégeois Dupont Syrah 2019

A bold, savory Syrah showing dark berry, violets, and cracked pepper with hints of coffee and herbs. Plush fruit meets Red Mountain structure, finishing long and elegant.

🍷 Hedges Family Estate | Red Mountain | Estate Red Blend 2022

A Cabernet-led blend delivering ripe black fruit, baking spice, cocoa, and subtle dried herbs. Generous yet balanced, with supple tannins and warm, polished character.

🍷 Patrick Bottex | Bugey-Cerdon | “La Cueille” Rosé (NV)

A lightly sparkling, semi-sweet rosé made from Gamay and Poulsard. Bright strawberry, rose petal, red apple, and a refreshing spritz create an irresistibly cheerful profile.

Stop by and try a splash of each wine and order additional bottles of your favorites.

About the Wines

Hedges Family Estate — Red Mountain, Washington

Founded by Tom and Anne-Marie Hedges, this family-run estate is one of the defining voices of the Red Mountain AVA. The Hedges team farms organically and biodynamically, emphasizing purity of fruit, minimal intervention, and a deep respect for place. Red Mountain’s warm days, cool nights, and mineral-rich, sandy loam soils yield wines known for concentration, power, and structure.

Pairing Suggestions

  • Descendants Liégeois Dupont Syrah 2019: Perfect with herb-crusted lamb, braised short ribs, roasted mushrooms, or aged Gouda.

  • Estate Red Blend 2022: Ideal for roast beef, winter stews, grilled pork tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or sharp cheddar.

Patrick Bottex — Bugey-Cerdon, France

Patrick and Catherine Bottex produce their beloved “La Cueille” in the mountainous Bugey region between Savoie and the Jura. Working steep limestone slopes and focusing on Gamay and Poulsard, they craft their sparkling rosé using the historic méthode ancestrale—bottling the wine before fermentation finishes, resulting in a lightly sweet, low-alcohol, naturally fizzy style. The wine’s alpine freshness and bright fruit make it one of the most charming, celebratory bottles of its kind.

Pairing Suggestions

  • “La Cueille” Rosé (NV): Brilliant with brunch dishes, berry tarts, fruit salads, goat cheese, fried chicken, charcuterie, or simply as a welcome glass before dinner.
